You simply must have experienced a winter around Lake Millstättersee. This time of the year invites you to enjoy hiking, cross-country skiing, skiing and skating. Long winter hikes offer great views and there are numerous ski areas in the vicinity.

To ski

The most beautiful ski areas in Carinthia and East Tyrol, such as Goldeck, Bad Kleinkirchheim, Katschberg, Nassfeld, Gerlitzen and Heiligenblut-Großglockner, are located close to Lake Millstatt. With just one ski pass, you can experience skiing fun throughout this zone. From the slopes to the hot water baths After skiing you can relax in the new Römerbad Bad Kleinkirchheim, for example. There you can observe the skiers on the slopes from your lounger.

Ice skating

In winter it is not only pleasant skiing in the Millstättersee region, you will not get bored on the irons either. In the vicinity of the Millstättersee you will also find the Weissensee. In winter, this lake turns into a 60 cm thick ice layer that with its 6.5 km2 is one of the largest frozen natural ice plains in Europe. This results in approximately 25 km of well-maintained natural ice rink. Imagine the wonderful, fresh, healthy mountain air, heated by a winter sun in a peaceful white nature. That is pure enjoyment!
